About Us
Brief History
Foundation IT was formed in 1996, when Simon Walker felt compelled to build a business based on providing a higher level of service than he was currently receiving in his role as an IT Manager. Simon started Foundation IT with a small contract combined with a lot of enthusiasm and hope; since then the business has grown to offer an extensive range of services for all sizes of business.  In 2011, Foundation IT is a growing, progressive business headquartered near Newbury, in the UK with approximately 30 staff and the company is owned and managed by Simon Walker, Andy Sellers and Simon Grosse.
Today
Today, we provide our services to a wide variety of more than 100 customers, ranging from a specialist school with just 50 pupils to the world’s largest defence contractor. Our services are broad; however there is an increasing focus around VMware technologies and Microsoft SharePoint solutions. It is our strong desire to offer true strategic expertise in these areas and we want to be the best at what we do. As such, we are creating a culture in the business whereby we develop a deep understanding in our core subject areas. The only two subjects for us are VMware, the world’s stand out leader in virtualisation technologies, and SharePoint, one of the most exciting and fastest growing products in Microsoft’s history. Whilst these two unlikely bedfellows have their differences we can also see the links, especially in an ever increasingly connected world where the need for rapid access to relevant information is so fundamental.
 
We are already recognised by our customers and partners as a strategic, quality thought leader with both VMware and SharePoint. We are passionate yet also pragmatic about technology. We tend to be cautious and always realistic about the adoption of new technologies, preferring to solidly test innovation before recommending it. Technology adoption strategies such as our Virtualisation Maturity Model and SharePoint Inception to Maturity frameworks demonstrate our strategic and measured approach to address both IT and business requirements. We want to share our experiences and approach with our customers to ensure their projects deliver – our future depends on being able to deliver beyond our customers’ expectations.
 
We are honest and fair and this applies to all our relationships - within the company, with our customers and with our partners. Today, we are a small company and whilst growth is part of our plan we always want to retain a small company feel and “can do” mentality. We want to continue to attract and retain the best talent in our chosen fields to ensure we offer the best solutions and service possible. Every employee is encouraged to be involved in where we want to take the company which we hope contributes towards a strong, unified organisation. Everyone at Foundation IT believes in hard work, transparency and communication and we strive for excellence because life is too short to just get by.
