iRed undertook a major activity to move their managed services to a new provider and part of this required the migration of their SharePoint environments to the new environment. Foundation IT were previously known to iRed as having the necessary SharePoint expertise required and were duly contracted to provide consultancy and implementation services for the migration.

Migration of three SharePoint environments to the new hosting provider. Foundation IT drove the project and provided a draft migration plan and daily progress updates followed by full migration plans for each successful migration. In order to hit the tight timescales the project was handled in a somewhat unconventional manner beginning with the Production environment migration first followed by the UAT and Development last. Comprehensive up-front analysis and planning allowed Foundation IT to have a thorough understanding of the SharePoint Farms from the start and to be able to take suitable precautions to mitigate any risks to the project duration. All environments were moved to the new provider with minimal disruption to the users and no downtime.
